“Studying in UK was one great blessing for me! Not only did I
learn to be more independent (clearing grime from sinks, paying bills and
cooking dinner), I discovered how different school is in London. For
instance, not only did was I in the lab cultivating bacteria for Biology, I
spent lots of time in the field catching mice or counting ducks. I also
managed to be friends of people with different nationalities (from Nigerian
to Russian) and get them to join me for Karaoke!”

"Before
my homesickness could take hold of me, my multinational flatmates
consisting of a Swede, a German, an American, a Scot and an Englishman
really gelled together and we had a great time staying together in hostel,
helping me to settle down quickly. A plant and soil field trip that I went
was equally fun! On first impression it sounded boring because we were
suppose to learn how to identify plants but it turned out really
interesting and we even got to climb a mountain! (technically its not a
mountain as it is only 785m) but the view on top was gorgeous. I truly
enjoyed my time to the fullest in Aberdeen!"

"Studying
in London is one of my best decisions. Moments after unpacking into the
puny room I gradually called “home”, I met people from diverse backgrounds who
had much to share. They showed me how much more the world has to offer and
how much I can offer to the world if I would take a leap of faith out of my
comfort zone. The challenging course, expertise of the lecturers and
passion shared amongst my course-mates make my hard work more rewarding
than what grades measure. London, the dynamic city I hate to love, throws
up occasional shocks but more usually, surprises. It’s a delectable
cocktail – you are tempted, you like it, but pushing yourself too hard risks
losing your balance... I grew up overnight, and am still learning everyday
– about myself and life. This might sound abstract, but not anymore once
you experienced it. Now, would you take the cocktail?"

"I
have found that studying in London has been a truly unique and enjoyable
experience. The opportunities of 1) studying overseas and 2) in a
cosmopolitan business hub have been truly innumerous. I have
encountered people from all different cultures, and who willingly share
their different perspectives on various issues, and have been taught by
many leading academicians in their respective fields. Everything is crazily
expensive, but as a student there are ways to circumvent the money issue
and lead a more than comfortable life. Take for example, as a musical
lover, West End has been a dream come true for me. And being in the UK, has
allowed me to travel to other parts of Europe on the cheap, travelling to
Spain, France, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Greece in my 1 year here. All
in all, studying and living abroad has brought its own sets of challenges,
which has helped me to become a more well rounded and independent
person."

Relations and History @ London School of Economics)
